UNIT 309

309 is a two-bedroom apartment with two baths. It's our largest apartment and can sleep up to six.

This apartment is approx. 1000 sq ft.

 

The master bedroom is large, with two double-hung windows looking out over E. Pike. The bed is a California king, extra long and very comfortable. The master bathroom is split into two areas--a shower and toilet in a small room by themselves, and a sink / vanity counter set back off the entry alcove.

 

The second bedroom is in the middle of the apartment, so it's shielded from street noise. It's the most quiet of all our bedrooms. The window looks out into a light well, letting in natural light but not street noise.

 

The bathroom in the hall has a claw-foot tub with shower.

 

In the kitchen there is a gas range, vented microwave, full size fridge and a complete selection of cookware, plates, glasses, even cooking oil and a few spices--everything you need to cook and eat in the apartment. There is a small two person table.

 

The front door opens to a long hall with original V.G. Fir flooring. It's been there since 1905 and was covered for many years with linoleum tiles and then with carpet. When we bought the building we decided to restore some of the wood floors. It turned out to be much harder than we thought, since the old tiles were stuck with some sort of felt paper that would only come up with hand scraping, an inch at at time. The result was worth it. The floors have a depth of color and they are beautiful. This building has such a long and interesting history, it's a treat to stay here!
